Black Saturday
See the smoke rise in the distance, across a heavily timbered slope,
The wind is gusting strongly, the swirling smoke at its front, gives us little hope!
Then with a roar the crown has caught, there's little we can do,
But watch and pray and hope to God the fireys can come through.
Though this task they have before them seems impossible to do!
The heat, it is unbearable, the smoke turn's day to night,
As they continue on and struggle, to try and make things right
But the fire in its fury burns everything in its path!
Homes are gone forever, the flames in all their wrath,
Devours all before us, there is nothing that can be done!
Many hundreds are left homeless, whole towns are even lost,
But these folks will battle onward, to hell with what it costs.
'They say hell has no fury! But on that fateful day,
Hell came to many hundreds, some even tried to pray,
But the Gods refused to listen, on this, Victoria's, fateful day.
What will we learn I ask you? Will the bureaucrats relent!
And listen to the people, who are living now in tents.
No! 1 do not think so, they will probably close their eyes and ears,
And make mountains out of molehills, with the people deep in tears,
But will listen to the Goodies who haven't got a clue.
No University Degree can tell you, how wild fire in its might,
Will stop and listen to you, regardless of your right.
These so called experts they should listen, to some of the very few,
And maybe they would learn a lot and their words not misconstrue!
Of the ones who went before us, help make our dreams come true.
The Spirit of Australia mate will see our friends come through,
On this day of dreadful turmoil, with such a loss of life so true!
Yes this tragedy which lies before us will only make us unite.
In the true style of us Australians who help others in their plight.
So offer your hand in friendship. with this mighty goal in sight.
